Letter From the President

danielHere at Knight FM, we believe that Safety should truly be our top priority at all levels; not on the Safety of ourselves, but also of our customers, suppliers, tenants, visitors and the general public who surround or may be affected in any way by one of our managed facilities.

This is a simple statement, but it is not easily accomplished. As we achieve and maintain Safety as our top priority every single day in every KFM Operation, it requires tremendous leadership, processes, training, audit systems, and an overall corporate culture that embraces and demands this be treated as priority. On rare occasion, however, despite our best intentions and efforts, incidents and breakdowns can occur. We believe in continual improvement in all regards, and therefore see every incident as an opportunity to get better and prevent recurrence. We also strongly embrace the concept of learning from a near-miss incident, so we absolutely encourage strong communications and reporting whenever a situation like this occurs in the pursuit of avoiding a future injury. One way that we have demonstrated our sincere commitment to continual improvement in Safety is through the investment and implementation of the OHSAS 18001 System and Certification. Another demonstration is through our investment in and implementation of the ISNetworld System.

As a member of our team, we expect that you not only comply with our Safety requirements, but that you also carry the leadership torch of Safety being priority in your daily activities. We want you to "be your brother's keeper" and voice concerns of improvement opportunities proactively before an incident occurs. Not everyone has the intestinal fortitude to intervene immediately when they see a potentially hazardous behavior or condition, but we challenge you to join us in the mission of making KFM's staff synonymous with this trait. Safety must be everyone's responsibility if we are going to truly prevent every injury.

Our Safety System consists of 5 core processes that lay the foundational groundwork of our program:

  • Safety Committee Meetings
  • Safety Observation Tours
  • Incident Investigations
  • Safe Operating Practices and Pre-Task Planning
  • Employee Safety Concerns Process

We look forward to explaining more about these processes, the other key element of our Safety program, and the resources associated with supporting this program in your ongoing training and development here at Knight FM.
