A major benefit of “green cleaning” is that it minimizes the environmental and health concerns associated with conventional cleaning practices. Many traditional janitorial products are derived from nonrenewable natural resources and can be toxic to human health and cause long-term environmental problems. It is crucial to recognize that the solution to these problems is not to clean less, as cleaning is essential to protecting occupant well-being and safety. Rather, the solution is the selection and use of appropriate cleaning and maintenance products. Using cleaning technologies that utilize rapidly renewable derived resources without sacrificing quality, performance or adding additional cost has tremendous life cycle advantages.
KnightFM has taken steps to promote a green cleaning initiative through the design and implementation of the Environmentally Preferable Janitorial Chemical program. KnightFM has tested a multitude of chemicals and products to validate their efficiency in meeting the facilities commitment to LEED-EB certification.
KnightFM is committed to the stewardship of the environment as well as the reduction of exposure of employees, tenants and visitors to any potentially harmful chemicals, particulates and biological contaminants. To this end, KnightFM shall follow this policy as well as maintain our commitment to saving money, while providing a quality program that matches our customers’ commitment to the environment.
